The Games Committee has strong its stance against P2E games by oral communication those games shouldn't receive an age rating needed to get listed on app marketplaces.

The South Korean government has moved to block the release of latest play to earn (P2E) games and requested that existing ones be removed from Google Play and Apple’s App Store.

P2E gaming has become popular in the cryptocurrency industry. Gamers typically must initial purchase game items as non fungible tokens so as to play the sport and receive in-game rewards. but play prizes over a couple of bucks are prohibited in South Korea.

The Game Management Committee (GMC) within the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and tourism yesterday requested major mobile app marketplaces block any games that need in-app purchases before enjoying the sport.

To combat the proliferation of what it sees as speculative money-making schemes, the GMC has created it nearly not possible for P2E game developers to induce their work listed on the foremost common mobile app stores.

While the government’s attem mitigate the expansion of P2E games by going straight to the app marketplaces could be a new development, game developers in South Korea have faced court battles since April to stay their P2E games up available in domestic app stores. the most drawback was that some game apps couldn't get an age rating needed for listing on app stores.

An official from the GMC stated that the commission is only following Supreme Court precedent in blocking P2E games from getting age ratings and being listed. The official said in a Dec. 28 statement:

“It is reasonable to keep P2E games from getting age ratings under the current law because cash rewards in games can be considered prizes.”

Prizes earned from recreation in Asian country cannot exceed 10,000 KRW ($8.42) at a time.
