Vivek Ramaswamy becomes the alternate 2024 presidential candidate in the United States to officially accept Bitcoin BTC $26,737 donations for his campaign.
“ Give $1, ” spoke Ramaswamy while publishing that he accepts Bitcoin donations. The revelation neared just two days after Robert F. Kennedy Jr. came the initial presidential candidate in United States history to accept campaign donations in Bitcoin. talking on stage at Bitcoin 2023 in Miami, Florida, Ramaswamy said, “ Let’s make the 2024 election a referendum on fiat currency. ”
As shown above, Ramaswamy flashed a QR code while on the platform, which, when scanned, would redirect users to a payment gateway that offers various payment options for donations, involving BTC and satoshis — the lowest denomination of Bitcoin.
Ramaswamy opted for BitPay’s payment service to receive Bitcoin donations. Still, BitPay supports different cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin Cash BCH $114, Ether ETH $1,804, ApeCoin APE $3.44, Litecoin LTC $91.07, Dogecoin DOGE $0.07 & Shiba Inu SHIB $0.000009, among others.
Eligible U.S. citizens and permanent residents can contribute up to $6,600 for the campaign, which isn't deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. Donors will be awarded a nonfungible token (NFT), with the donation page saying, “ After contributing, come back to claim your NFT. ”

In February, lawmakers in the Kansas House of Representatives presented a bill offering a cap of $100 when it comes to crypto political donations.
For donations under $100, the receiver would require to “ immediately convert ” the crypto to U.S. dollars, not utilize the crypto for expenditures, and not hold the funds.
