El Salvador is partnering with the nonprofit organization Mi Primer Bitcoin to add Bitcoin education to the country's public school curriculum by 2024. The Ministry of Education and MPB will train teachers, and if successful, the program will be rolled out to all schools in the country.

El Salvador is taking steps to introduce Bitcoin education in its public school curriculum by 2024 through a partnership between the Ministry of Education and the nonprofit organization Mi Primer Bitcoin (MPB), which translates to "My First Bitcoin."

MPB's founder, John Dennehy, confirmed that this initiative is led by the Ministry of Education, with support from MPB and Bitcoin Beach.

The Bitcoin education program, provided by Mi Primer Bitcoin, will be a key component of the curriculum. Students completing the program will receive a diploma. The training for the pilot program is set to begin on September 7, with assistance from Bitcoin Beach. Initially, 150 public school teachers from 75 schools will receive training to equip them with a foundational understanding of Bitcoin.

After completing their training, these teachers will return to their respective schools to teach the curriculum developed by the Ministry of Education. If the pilot program proves successful, the plan is to extend Bitcoin education to every school in El Salvador next year.

As El Salvador was the first country to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender, this initiative aims to set an example for the rest of the world. Dennehy stated, "Quality education is our best chance to ensure that that example is a positive one."

While the focus is currently on El Salvador, the long-term goal of MPB is to bring Bitcoin education to a global audience. Dennehy shared that MPB is in early discussions with two other Latin American governments interested in implementing Bitcoin education for their students, following El Salvador's model.

This initiative builds on the existing efforts in El Salvador to educate its citizens about Bitcoin, with over 25,000 students having already learned about the cryptocurrency in the classroom, according to Roman Martínez, the community leader of Bitcoin Beach.

Bitcoin Cuba has also expressed interest in implementing its own version of Mi Primer Bitcoin, indicating a growing trend of Bitcoin education initiatives in the region.
