Vietnamese tech company FPT and global semiconductor chip leader Nvidia have announced plans to invest in and construct a $200 million AI factory in Vietnam. The objective is to establish a comprehensive platform for AI and cloud computing services, catering to the burgeoning demands for these technologies in the region. FPT will be responsible for financing the AI factory, positioning it as a “sovereign cloud,” while Nvidia will contribute its cutting-edge tech offerings, including AI enterprise software, frameworks, and Nvidia H100 Tensor Core GPUs.
Keith Strier, the vice president for Worldwide AI at Nvidia, expressed the potential for AI to drive progress and bolster economies across nations by catalyzing innovation in critical sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, climate, and manufacturing. The factory is set to offer cloud GPU services, empowering FPT’s corporate clients with enhanced AI application capabilities and speed, along with end-to-end generative AI services.
