Vietnamese IT firms FTB and Nvidia are teaming up to create a state-of-the-art $200 million artificial intelligence (AI) factory, marking a groundbreaking initiative set to redefine the technological landscape in the region. This collaborative effort seeks to transform Vietnam into an AI hub, introducing cutting-edge AI products, GPU infrastructure, and expert tech services to the local market and beyond. The factory will serve as a sovereign cloud and is positioned to accelerate the adoption of AI applications not only in Vietnam but also in neighboring countries such as Japan and Korea. The development showcases a pivotal step in advancing technological innovation in Southeast Asia.

Vietnamese tech company FPT and global semiconductor chip leader Nvidia have announced plans to invest in and construct a $200 million AI factory in Vietnam. The objective is to establish a comprehensive platform for AI and cloud computing services, catering to the burgeoning demands for these technologies in the region. FPT will be responsible for financing the AI factory, positioning it as a “sovereign cloud,” while Nvidia will contribute its cutting-edge tech offerings, including AI enterprise software, frameworks, and Nvidia H100 Tensor Core GPUs.

Keith Strier, the vice president for Worldwide AI at Nvidia, expressed the potential for AI to drive progress and bolster economies across nations by catalyzing innovation in critical sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, climate, and manufacturing. The factory is set to offer cloud GPU services, empowering FPT’s corporate clients with enhanced AI application capabilities and speed, along with end-to-end generative AI services. Moreover, Nvidia's programs will be integrated into educational initiatives at universities and high schools across Vietnam, impacting over 30,000 students.

This endeavor aligns with Nvidia’s broader vision to expand partnerships in Vietnam, attract local talent and foster growth in the AI industry. It also follows significant business agreements and partnerships worth billions of dollars between the United States and Vietnam, focusing on strengthening the semiconductor supply chain and boosting AI-related cooperation. The presence of major tech companies such as Nvidia, Microsoft, and Google underscores the strategic significance of this collaboration, solidifying Vietnam's position as a key player in the tech industry.

The collaboration between FPT and Nvidia holds promise not only for the development of cutting-edge AI infrastructure but also for driving significant economic and technological advancements in the region. The initiative is a testament to the burgeoning potential of Vietnam as a prominent destination for technological innovation and investment, particularly in the realm of artificial intelligence and cloud computing. This transformative project is poised to elevate Vietnam’s prominence in the global tech landscape and fortify its status as an emerging AI nation with the capacity to drive innovation and progress well beyond its borders.
